Butker's game-winner was his third field goal of the day and his second from 58 yards, which tied a Chiefs record for distance. He nailed a 30-yarder on the final play of regulation. In overtime, Butker sent the ball through the uprights from 53 yards, but KC was called for a false start. Then the Chargers called timeout, giving him a rehearsal kick from 58 that he also made before the one that counted. Patrick Mahomes finished 27 of 47 for 302 yards and two touchdowns.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Yadier Molina hit a two-run homer and Jack Flaherty pitched six dominant innings as the St. Louis Cardinals kept their hold on a postseason spot with a 2-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Molina's home run to the bleachers in left field came in the seventh inning off Derek Holland and extended St. Louis' winning streak to a season-high four games. The Cardinals had been shut out by Joe Musgrove over the first six innings. Flaherty allowed only one run and two hits while striking out 11 and walking two.

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Daniel Vogelbach belted a pair of homers and drove in all five runs as the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Kansas City Royals 5-3 on Sunday to sweep the three-game interleague matchup. &nbsp;Milwaukee closed out the regular-season schedule at Miller Park in what was possibly the final home game in a Brewers uniform for Ryan Braun, the 2007 NL Rookie of the Year and the 2011 MVP who has spent his entire 14-year career with the franchise.&nbsp;

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (AP) — Anthony Davis had the last word in Game 2 of the NBA's Western Conference finals.

Davis made a 3-pointer as time expired to give the Los Angeles Lakers a 105-103 victory over the Denver Nuggets and a series 2-0 lead. He scored 22 of his 31 points in the second half, including the Lakers' last 10 of the game.

The Nuggets had trailed by as much as 16, but Nikola Jokic (nih-KOH'-lah YOH'-kihch) scored 11 straight Denver points down the stretch, including a basket that made it 103-102 with 20 seconds to play.

LeBron James had 26 points and 11 rebounds for the Lakers, while Jokic finished with 30 points and nine assists. Jamal Murray scored 25 points for the Nuggets, who are back in action on Tuesday.

DeChambeau, Wolff match eagles on 9th at US Open

MAMARONECK, N.Y. (AP) — Bryson DeChambeau has won the U.S. Open -- the first major championship for golf's long-hitting mad scientist. 

He shot 67 on Sunday to finish at 6 under. Third-round leader Matthew Wolff shot 75 to finish second, six strokes back.

DeChambeau is the third person in history to win an NCAA title, a U.S. Amateur and the U.S. Open. The others are Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods. 

DeChambeau was the only player under par in the final round, laughing off Winged Foot's narrow fairways and thick rough with his booming drives that averaged 325 yards.

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. (AP) — Jim Furyk joined Arnold Palmer and Bruce Fleisher as the only players to win their first two PGA Tour Champions starts. Furyk beat Jerry Kelly with a birdie on the first hole of a playoff in the Pure Insurance Championship.

Furyk closed with a 5-under 67 to match Kelly at minus-12.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Georgia Hall has captured the Cambia Portland Classic for her first LPGA Tour victory in the United States. She beat Ashleigh Buhai with a par on the second hole of a playoff after carding a 4-under 68 on Sunday.

UNDATED (AP) — The San Francisco 49ers picked up their first win of the season, but it came at a very heavy price.

Raheem Mostert (MOHS'-turt) ran for an 80-yard touchdown on San Francisco's first play from scrimmage in a 31-13 victory over the Jets. But Mostert couldn't finish the game, nor could quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (gah-RAH'-pah-loh) and defensive linemen Nick Bosa (BOH'-sah) and Solomon Thomas.

Garoppolo went out with a high ankle sprain and Mostert to an injured knee. Garoppolo threw two TD passes before he and Mostert sat out the second half. 

The fear is it could be a season-ending ACL injury for Bosa, who'll have tests Monday. So will Thomas, although 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said there's a better chance for him it's not as serious an ACL injury. 

— Cam Newton was stopped at the 1-yard line by L.J. Collier on the final play to secure the Seahawks' 35-50 triumph over the Patriots. Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson threw for five touchdowns while completing 21 of 28 passes for 288 yards.

The Pirates committed three errors in the sixth, paving the way for Carlson's second career home run. St. Louis took the opening game 6-5 behind home runs from Kolten Wong and Tyler O'Neill. The Cardinals moved back to .500 with the victory while playing their third doubleheader in five days.&nbsp;

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Jacob Nottingham hit a grand slam and Orlando Arcia added a three-run shot as the Milwaukee Brewers rallied from an early four-run deficit and beat the Kansas City Royals 9-5. Nottingham's two-out blast to left off Danny Duffy capped a six-run rally in the fourth inning that put the Brewers ahead for good. The comeback had begun when Christian Yelich led off the fourth with his 150th career homer. Kansas City's Salvador Perez went 4 of 5 with a homer, double, two runs and four RBIs.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields says he felt distraught watching college football on TV last weekend. With the Big Ten's decision to scrap fall sports in the name of player safety because of the coronavirus pandemic, Fields and his Buckeye teammates were sidelined. That changed this week when the Big Ten reversed course and announced that beginning Oct. 23-24. Fields says the players are grateful the season has been saved and are having fun being on the field together again. Wisconsin quarterback Jack Coan said getting the season back "means everything."

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Health officials are telling 10 fans who attended last week's Kansas City Chiefs game to quarantine after one fan tested positive for COVID-19. Kansas City health officials announced Thursday that a fan who watched the game from a group's box tested positive the next day. The group was seated in the lower level of the stadium. The Chiefs said in a statement the organization worked Kansas City health officials to find the fans who were possibly exposed. Chiefs officials say contact tracing protocols showed the group were wearing masks when they entered the stadium and pinpointed anyone who had contact with the individual.

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (AP) — The Los Angeles Lakers finally figured out how to win a series opener.

Showcasing their deadly transition game, Anthony Davis and LeBron James each had double-doubles as the Lakers humbled the Nuggets, 126-114. Davis had 37 points and 10 rebounds, while James added 15 points and 12 assists.

Denver led by two before the Lakers opened the second quarter with a 17-1 run. An 11-2 burst in the third blew it open at 92-71. 

Los Angeles had dropped series openers to Portland and Houston before sweeping the next four each time. Denver is in familiar territory, having trailed 3-1 in each of their first two series before winning both. 

Nikola Jokic (nih-KOH'-lah YOH'-kihch) and Jamal Murray each scored 21 points in the Nuggets' first Western Conference finals game in 11 years.

Reed on top; Woods, Mickelson sent packing

MAMARONECK, N.Y. (AP) — Winged Foot reclaimed its demon reputation on Friday, chewing up Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson while Patrick Reed stayed above the fray.

Reed is the leader through 36 holes of the U.S. Open, following Thursday's 4-under 66 with a 70 that puts him one shot ahead of Bryson DeChambeau. Starting on the back nine, Reed offset two bogeys on the front nine with two birdies, including a 5-foot putt on the par-5 ninth to get up-and-down from a greenside bunker.

DeChambeau was one of three players to break par in the second round, powering and putting his way to a 68. He followed each of his bogeys with birdies and finished with the best round of the day.

Wild captain Koivu's long run comes to an end in Minnesota

UNDATED (AP) — Mikko Koivu's (MEE'-koh KOY'-vooz) extraordinary career with the Minnesota Wild is over.

General manager Bill Guerin (GEHR'-ihn) said Friday the team will not resign the 37-year-old Finn, whose contract is expiring.

Koivu is the only full-time captain the club has had. He returned from reconstructive right knee surgery for a 15th season and had four goals and 21 points in 55 games while playing mostly on the fourth line.

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — Former Cardinals safety and Pro Football Hall of Famer Larry Wilson has died at 82. 

Wilson spent more than 43 years in the Cardinals organization as a player and an executive. 

A seventh-round draft pick out of Utah in 1960, Wilson played 13 seasons with the Cardinals. He was an eight-time Pro Bowl selection and a first-team All-Pro five times.

High School Scores from Friday night

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Salthawks and Maize South Mavericks smacked each other in the mouth all night long on Friday night in one of the more exciting and interesting football games that Hutchinson fans have seen in a long time.&nbsp; Hutchinson prevailed over the undefeated and #5 ranked Mavericks in a shoot out at Gowans Stadium 34-33.

The game went back and forth and was tied at halftime 14-14.&nbsp; Senior running back Alec McCuan had a huge night, amassing 292 yards on 33 carries scoring 3 touchdowns.&nbsp; Quarterback Myles Thompson scored 2 TD's including the game winner with 1:48 to go in the game to put Hutchinson up for good 34-33.

The Salthawks scored on their first possession of the game with McCuan going over from 4 yards out at the 8:13 mark of the 1st quarter.&nbsp; Carter Booe was perfect all night on point afters all night long, although the Salthawks elected to go for 2 on the last score and were not successful.

Maize South was next to score after their first possession stalled and had to punt the ball away. On their next possession Senior QB Colin Shields connected with Hunter Niemann on a 25 yard catch and run with 1:10 to go in the 1st quarter.&nbsp; The Salthawks answered&nbsp; back with a 52 yard romp for a score by McCuan with 7:41 to go in the 2nd quarter.&nbsp; Maize South closed out the first have scoring with Niemann scoring from 4 yards out to tie the game at 14 all at halftime.

The Mavericks opened the scoring in the 3rd quarter as Niemann scored his 2nd TD of the game coming at the 6:40 mark but a miscue on the PAT made the score 20-14 Maize South.&nbsp; Hutchinson's Senior QB Myles Thompson regained the lead 21-20 2 minutes later on a 2 yard slash into the endzone for his 1st TD of the night.&nbsp; Maize South finished off their 3rd quarter scoring with Colin Shields connecting with Jake Johnson with 2:02 to go in the quarter to regain the lead 27-21.&nbsp; Johnson had 11 catches for 99 yards and 2 TD's on the night.

The 4th quarter had both teams fans on the edge of their seats as McCuan ripped off a 44 yard run for his 3rd touchdown of the night to put the Salthawks the lead 28-27 on the first play of the quarter to score with 11:53 to go in the game.&nbsp; After that, Maize South drove down the field and scored what was to be their final touchdown of the night as Neimann took a Shields hand off to go 15 yards and score to give the lead back to Maize South 33-28.&nbsp; The Mavericks tried a 2 point conversion but failed. Neiman finished his night with 24 carries and 107 yards plus 2 TD's.

But Hutchinson saved the best for last as McCuan continued to bang away at the Maize South defense. with Myles Thompson scoring his 2nd touchdown of the night with 1:48 to play to give Hutchinson the lead 34-33.&nbsp; Maize South made it exciting with it's final drive reaching the Hutchinson 30 yard line but Shields final 2 passes fell incomplete and just like against Garden City, Hutchinson took over on downs and ran out the clock with 55 seconds to go in the game.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Hutchinson goes to 3-0 and the Mavericks are now 2-1.&nbsp; Hutchinson hosts Newton next Friday for Homecoming at Gowans Stadium.

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Jacob Nottingham hit a grand slam and Orlando Arcia added a three-run shot as the Milwaukee Brewers rallied from an early four-run deficit and beat the Kansas City Royals 9-5. 

Nottingham’s two-out blast to left off Danny Duffy capped a six-run rally in the fourth inning that put the Brewers ahead for good. The comeback had begun when Christian Yelich led off the fourth with his 150th career homer. Kansas City’s Salvador Perez went 4 of 5 with a homer, double, two runs and four RBIs.
