HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A fire in a camper and the home next to it damaged both the camper and the house Tuesday.

According to a release from Hutchinson Fire Chief Steven Beer, at 4:10 p.m. Tuesday, firefighters responded to a camper fire located in the 600 block of West Avenue A. The camper was on fire, but there was a downed power line that kept firefighters from attacking the camper first, so they turned their attention to the house and extinguished the fire inside, but two rooms were damaged. Evergy disconnected the power line and firefighters put out the camper.

Firefighters checked the house and camper for victims. No one was found. There is no estimate on damage at this point. The investigation continues.
